    The Intergalactic Trashman official website

    The Intergalactic Trashman is a 2D space exploration game (piloting a space ship) with platform stages that combines action, puzzles and stealth.

    The main character works collecting and recycling space trash and unwittingly, he find himself involved in an intriguing adventure. He will need to travel around the universe to find his partner and friend that has disappeared under strange circumstances.

    The things that you can do:
    • Travel through the space in order to discover new planets,collectibles, NPCs, trash...
    • Solve different type of puzzles.
    • Fight against enemies (space pirates, soldiers, turrets...)
    • Upgrade your ship and weapons.
    • Discover the main plot.
    Main idea
    We want to combine this in two different kind of stages that are joined. You can land on a planet with your ship, and enter with the character in a factory (2D platforms stage), and then, you can exit the factory and fly again. It's a spatial pseudo-sandbox.

    Kepler, our Hero

    Kepler is the little creature below.

    The Main Mothership (the basecamp) will be inhabited by several characters which we will be able to interact with.

    Our hero will find differents enemies through his adventures. Currently, we have the Jelly Enemies, that guard factories which our hero will investigate.In addition, he must fight with space pirates that try to destroy your ship and steal its parts.

    We are using Unity 4 for the game logic. The animations are done with Spine (http://esotericsoftware.com/).

    Hi all!

    Maybe you knew this project before, this is because it started a year ago. At the beginning we using the framework libGDX in java but, for the reasons explained below, the project is being ported to Unity.

    Now I'll talk about the current state of the project:

    - We're working on our KickStarter campaign: we're making sketches, artworks, the trailer, talking about rewards, goals,... We hope we will launch the KickStarter campaign on one or two months but, you know, it's a lot of work if we want a successful
    campaign.

    - We're moving from Java/LibGDX to Unity: We almost have the first pre-alpha ported to Unity. Why Unity? Because we can export the game to more platforms, and the developing process tasks, such as adding assets, creating physics bodies, build planets,... are faster. Testing and adjusting parameters in Java/LibGDX is a slow task too (in comparison with Unity, of course). Another important reason is the level designing and building, we don't need an specific editor, just an Unity extension.

    While the designers are working in all the art stuff for KickStarter, the coders are adding new cool features
    (planet jumping, ropes, dash, new enemies, conversation system, ...).

    This is pretty sweet and cute and all :D

    Animation work is outstanding and the art in general creates a great atmosphere for the game.

    And now, I'll show you how one of our designers - Marina - has made a stargate. Stargates connect space exploration stages with special (arcade/puzzle) space stages.

    This is the final stargate : Image 1

    The stargate itself is composed of this three images: Image 2

    And the center of the stargate is composed of this five images: Image 3

    Using Spine, she has done a cyclic animation for the stargate (when our hero still not entered in it): Image 4

    But that's not all! We wanted to made a great stargate so, Marina has made two particles effects:

    This one: Image 6

    Using this image: Image 7

    And this one: Image 8

    Using this image: Image 9

    And putting them together: Image 10

    In a near future, I want to post some mini-videos showing mechanics of the game as main character using the rope, jumping from one planet to another, using the sword... But for now we must settle for gifs :)

    Hi all!

    We've made a lot of improvements:

    - Full Java/LibGDX prealpha 1 ported to Unity :mrgreen:
    - Melee attack has been added ingame (platform&space stages :D).
    - Added dash ability, now the main character can push himself through the air!.
    - Added rope ability to climb to far positions.
    - Added breakable crates/boxes/anything for item looting.
    - Add jump between planets with the main character, and "jumpers" to reach far planets.
    - Basic AI enemies over planets.

    Many gifs coming soon, but...look at the lovely jelly jumping over crates! :p

    We've made a LOT of artworks and images for the KickStarter campaign too, but they're kept in secret by now :p. We want some new features added for the trailer :)

    Today, I’ll introduce you the Chief Security Officer and the head of the armory in the trashmen’s mothership :twisted: He has no name yet (we’re thinking about it) and he belongs to the techno-medieval universe.

    As I promised you, here you’re a video showing an early version of the main character using the rope and the dash. There're many provisional elements, as the rope hook and the skybox, but you can make an idea how will look.

    And now, here you're a short video showing an early version (lacks sound and cool visual effects) of the planetary jump!

    The planetary jump works like this:
    - You press the planetary jump button when you're in a "jump area".
    - The main character jumps to the next planet, or to the next "spacejumper" (like in this video).
    - When you're close to a spacejumper the slow motion is activated.
    - If you press the planetary jump button when you're over a spacejumper, it pushes you to the next spacejumper.

    Yes, they're. We've to improve the way they appear from the black hole (for instance, using a gate) because currently they emerge out of nowhere :D
