    Images of the hi-res character model from the Action/adventure/puzzle side-scroller I am working on




    I am now beginning to tweak the low-res version so that I can collect the normal maps.

    Here is the low res version of the character model.
    There may be a lower resolution version in the future, but this will be the main game model. It's about 7000 polygons which I understand is pretty typical these days for high quality game graphics.

    7000 polys???
    I created a character with 3000 triangles and only one animation...
    Unity crashed emmediately... :?

    Unity can handle up to 65,000 polys for one object without any difficulty. You should file a bug report if you can reproduce the problem.

    I reimported my character 3 times, then it was working... with 6 fps :?

    A single character with 3000 polys should run at hundreds of fps at least, if that's all you had in the scene.

    hi!

    my machinespecs:
    imac - intel core 2 duo / 2ghz / 1gbRam / ATI x1600 - 128mbVram / Osx 10.4.11

    i can have 10 fast moving cars at 25 - 50 fps webplayer and standalone / 800x500 fantastic

    car :
    9600 vertices / 8500 triangles in 14 meshes
    the largest mesh in this array -> 5600 vertices / 5000 triangles (pixelshader(reflection/specular) aligned by 2 pixel_lights)


    as eric said you should have hundreds of fps with one single 3000 polymesh

    Gaston, are you running anything at all in the background? It definitely doesn't seem like you should be getting such poor performance.

    I'm experimenting with different ways to rig the tubes on the shoulders and knees, but the rest of his body is pretty clean.
