TextMesh Pro TextMesh Pro Multiple Plugins Error

    After updating a project started with the Asset Store version of TMP to Unity 2018.2.4f1, I now get an error that there are multiple plugins with the same name. I found another thread about this issue, but the solution, deleting the TMP version in the Packages folder, doesn't work. It can't be deleted.

    But if I delete the version that was originally in the project, everything breaks, it can't find the scripts. Is there a way to update this project without having to re-create all the text objects? Any way to make it use the new versions of the scripts in the Packages folder?
