Terrain tool with Pressure sensitive pen compatibility

    You know... artists that sit down to work on unity to create a terrain, with a Brush and they have to use the mouse!!! without pressure sensitivity!!! is outrageous... it is unthikable for me to work without a wacom... man ... when you design a brush, design the pressure... so do unity plan to give power to artists?
    Im kind of kidding but the request is 100% legitimate.

    It should all 100% feel like zbrush sculpting or Unity's failed. All artists that do this stuff know.

    Yeah for sure, zbrush, mudbox but the thing is that The Unreal engine and cry engine tools is quite good for along time and unitys is the worse of the worse ever... just do it

    FYI -- we started work on this, but quickly discovered that Terrain (as part of core Unity) cannot use the new input system (which is a package) -- because the dependencies go the wrong way. The 'fast' hack here would be to make a Terrain input API and a package that connects it to the new input system. We think the better solution though is to put Terrain itself in a package.

    Will pressure be coming in the future though? seems really essential to our resident moaning artist.

    Yes, it remains high on our list of priorities; but the ETA is probably limited by when we can get Terrain moved into a package.

    I think pressure sensitivity is part of the new Input package (or it will be). We haven't hooked that up with our Terrain Tools package or the builtin painting tools

    The new input package is now out in preview with support for the pen pressure, will you be thinking about adding pressure for the terrain tools?

    i can't say for sure if we will be adding it to the terrain tools package (maybe if there's time) but can say we will be including it in the new stuff we are making

    Almost two years later and nothing but crickets. Awesome. But hey, thank god Unity spent time and money on that slick Unity Gaming Services ad for we were presented with last week wherein we can spend money to be beta testers.

    Who needs basic functionality when you can do something like look at a new logo, amirite?

    Forget it, I'll just find a work around with another program, just like the last time I attempted to use Unity's terrain tool. It gets very frustrating trying to be successful in spite of Unity's management rather than because of it.

    I have asked about it in 2011 and now in 2021 its still not a priority it seems.

    I would like to see the pen pressure feature that made by a bunch of logo designers, marketing and network engineer folks. :D

    Is the new input system now capable of doing what is needed? or is the package manager still the blocker?
    I think terrain is now a build in package right?

    There issupport in the editor for reading pressure, @Rowlan has been testing it, to have native terrain tool with pressue would be great.

    FWIW Unreal has absolutely lousy pressure support on most of it's tools too. Perhaps landscape works though so seeing it properly supported in Unity is a nice fat bonus for users.
