Hi guys, Does anyone know if there is some plugin on the asset store that is able to convert a unity terrain to a unity mesh (fbx or something ) ? Thanks,
Alternatively you can export it from Unity and import it into Blender with the "Images as Planes" plugin. http://johnflower.org/tutorial/make-mountains-blender-height-maps
Naw for real though lol, be careful necroposting on here, you might get the mighty hippo to awaken from his chambers, trust me - it's not pretty hahaha.
He's forgiven, I'm currently chasing ironmax for creating a troll account. Hippo is pleased with the bloodletting thus far.
Hello - I've got a real noob question. What are the advantages of converting a terrain into a mesh (for example a terrain created using the Gaia asset tool)?
Imho there's no point having 3 threads about basically the same topic running in parallel. Check this out: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/best-replacement-for-unity-terrain.409810/
MTE(Mesh Terrain Editor) has a convertor that converts a Unity terrain to a mesh. You may want to try it out. Forum thread: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/mte.396808/ Asset store: http://u3d.as/xsv Try it for free! NOTE: 1. You need to add 4 textures to your terrain first to use convertor in MTE Free. (No such limitation in Pro edition) 2. There is currently an issue that leads to incorrect tilling of the textures. (You can adjust that after the conversion.) This is to be fixed in the next version.
Hi can you tell me how to stop this from happening I have a large terrain split into 16 pieces and everyone of them looks like the picture attached. If I use MTE I don't get the problem shown but at the moment MTE does not export trees with the converted terrain to mesh. If I use Terrain to Mesh I get the problem as pictured above.
