    Got it figured (mostly), thanks everyone.

    How to build terrain shaders using shadergraph


    Transition textures is really similar to height based blending, this pointed me in the right direction.

    The only thing I couldn't figure out is how to handle more than 4 terrain textures with shader graph. There is something extra happening with the default terrain shader that can handle this. Even the default terrain shader only handles 4 textures, but there is probably some shader layering under the hood. Let me know if anyone knows how this works. Thanks!
