    Hello,
recently I've been trying to develop a strange looking terrain. The idea is that there are no shadows, the texture is monochrome in specific places. Almost destroying depth, if not completely. I want the hills to blend together, the only way to actually notice them is to walk with your character and get a different perspective. A good example to go by is Journeys landscapes. Any thoughts?

Here's the reference. Look at how the buildings appear to be a silhouette and the graphical detail, though beautiful, it has a great deal of minimalism.

I would say... turn off shadows and don't have any lights in the scene, just set the ambient light value very high.

Edit: That would give you "no shadows" and no real depth like you said in the post. The image you posted, however, is almost all shadows and you can see the depth fairly well, so I'm not sure what you're really looking for. If you want that, it's kind of the exact opposite. Turn on shadows, set the ambient light value very low, and put a very strong directional light in front of the character with the intensity very high, and use a bloom filter on the camera.

This. This is how you'd achieve the effect shown.
