Bug Terrain details selected for no reason, dragging down performance

    The terrain details seem to be selected whenever you select any object in the hierarchy, i.e. not terrain related.

    This of course drags down performance.

    Screenshot, here i select only the dwarf king:

    There are some other problem with highlighting as well, mainly where child meshes aren't highlighted when selecting the empty parent objects. Looks something related to this issue as well

    Yeah I noticed this too, didn't really investigate it further on my end though.

    Looks like this is a known issue: https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/product/unity/issues/guid/1380804/

    As for the OP case, we don't have anything logged specifically for that behaviour so it would be great if you could submit a bug report with reproduction steps for it, in case it's not the same issue as the one above.

    Would it suffice to specify an asset? I don't want to do a 16 GB asset upload report. I can still reproduce it in a16. All you need to do is set up a HDRP project, install Mountain Environment, open the demo scene and select anything in the hierarchy.

    @LeonhardP I reduced the project to the core and submitted a bug report. Case id is 1385862

    Thanks @Rowlan, the report is being looked into.

    That should be sufficient.

    It's not fixed. It's listed as "Known Issue"

    We have a fix and it just landed in Trunk. It will be backported to 2022.1 but I can't say yet when it will land there.

    Have you tried disabling selection outline in the meantime?

    Oh dear. I just thought you also would have received the fix before publication? Anyway off you go now!!
    EDIT. Sorry, Rowlan. Looks like you have to wait until the "official release".

    Yes, but that's tedious to switch back and forth all the time.

    The issue should be fixed in b6.
