Terrain and tree

    I want to make trees. But the terrane tree cannot be chopped. The question is whether it will affect performance if I plant 4000 trees separately as game objects, and not with a brush on the terrain.

    Not enough info to help you. But, what i can decipher from your post, is you want trees that you can chop down, which is an "interactable object". Not all assets/trees have this system.

    As far as placement, it doesnt matter if its manual or unity terrain/tree placement. Youll have to deal with the performance/optimization either way (pooling, LOD, MIPMAP, etc.)...
