TDR Editor Crash?

I have made a GPU renderer that can easily spend more than the 2 seconds set by the default TDR timeout. As long as the scene renders within this time, all is well, but the moment I increase the resolution or other aspects so that it goes over 2 seconds, then I get a crash in Unity.

But, I have already set the TDR off, and also set the TDR timeout to 20 seconds. First through nVidia nSight, then tried again through the registry. Made sure I applied all settings as admin, and rebooted. Then confirmed the new settings were active in nSight. But I still get a TDR timeout in the Unity Editor.

It looks like my new TDR settings are being ignored? My GPU is a 2080 Ti.

I do not know how to confirm this is really an TDR issue though, although it looks like it? Does Unity override the settings in any way?
