SurrounDead - Survival Game Assets ( modular buildings with interiors)

    what are your recommended lighting and/or shading tips for this package??

    That depends on your game theme. Whatever looks pleasant to the eye and creates an atmosphere. We don't have any specific lightning tips. There are plenty of demo scenes included for you to inspire from.

    Hi,

    Since I'm using unity 2018.3.5f1, I have two questions:
    1- I can't find the environment assets for the water in 2018 how can I get that? (I checked the assets-->Import package) but I can't find the environment for water? how can I get it?
    2- regarding the post processing stack link you provide, it's for an old version (legacy) of the post processing stack, so does this package work with the new post processing stack? if yes please provide steps.

    Sorry for the late reply, we haven't tried other versions yet, the package is available only for 2017.3.1. for any other versions you have to test it yourself and it's not guaranteed it will work flawlessly .
    The water uses the shader from Standard Assets https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/essentials/asset-packs/standard-assets-32351
    As for the post processing stack the link is for the one we are using in the current package and works best with our version (2017.3.1). We will update it once we move to a newer unity version.

    @Pandur1982 No sorry, It's on hold for now.

    The sales were good when it was on 50% off. Now not so much.

    We are working on a small update with some interior props that were planned initially for v3.5.
    Then we would like to create separate packages for different needs like bases,gardening, weapons,

    Bases would be great - I'd buy an expansion pack for that (especially if it included pieces to build tunnels/bunkers).
    By "gardening", do you mean "crafting"?
    Honestly, I think there are enough weapons on the market as it is....you might want to look at something else instead.


    I'd be very interested in a vehicle expansion, for example:
    • new vehicle models: off-road/4x4, military vehicles and/or heavy vehicles (bulldozer, tractor, Mack truck, etc.)
    • new skins for existing car models: additional colors, decals, etc
    • additional add-ons: plow/tractor buckets, spiked hubcaps, additional tire models
    • same levels of destruction as original set.
    Not saying it should have all that stuff (or only that stuff)...those are just suggestions. Vehicles might also attract other/non-survival game developers.

    Thank you for the ideas and for your interest in our package!

    By gardening I mean growing plants for food inside bases, garden boxes/beds with upgradable stages and other similar assets.

    In Demo scene - Scene Camp
    there's a script missing in _Camera_Camp object
    is there any other assets that i should import other than Standard Assets?

    The only script on the camera is the Post Processing.

    We just found out that the Post Processing Stack v1 got deprecated and you can't download it anymore.

    We are working at the moment on an update where we will upgrade the package to 2018.4 and with that we will switch to Post Process Stack v2.

    If you don't have Post Processing Stack v1 already, we can provide it for you.

    1. Does it work along with Unity 2019.3 ?
    2. Does it work with Universal Rendering Pipeline ?
    3. Can this assets / level made to run or Mobile or is it AAA quality ?

    1. We haven't tried on newer Unity versions, but it will probably work on 2019.3 as there are only models and textures no custom scripts/shaders.
    Messy Coder reviewed this package on Unity 2019.2 and looks like it was working just fine.


    2. Same here don't know haven't tried it. This asset is build with the default/built-in Render Pipeline.

    3. The models are low poly and mostly diffuse texture(emissive on some assets), the "problem" is that it's modular and to run it on mobile you will have to bake the meshes and group textures together(atlas).

    We don't consider Post Processing to be something that important to require an immediate update. You can easily update to V2 and use the same LUT file. We are working on some interior props and with it we will update the package to 2018.4 and also update the post processing. Hope we can finish it by December 15.

    Thank you for quick reply.. tested with the free sample.. looks fine.
    idk about "bake the meshes" so have to learn that along with URP
    Since my game is zombie based it is good match. and with such good assets, planned to buy and will give it a go..
    Hope in that process will learn a lot

    We don't have an ETA. We want to released it as fast as possible but at the same time we don't want to rush it.

    There won't be any bunkers, sorry. We are not going that far as nuclear apocalypse, more like Hilltop from Walking Dead.

    Here is an image with the current state. Blocking everything and checking how it fits with older assets. (not all assets are going to be in the final release)

    Asset pack is truly great BUT even the city demo scene has +8000 draw calls, whats the best way to optimize the assets so they can run at a reasonable frame rate, as that number of draw calls is just crazy, considering we haven't even added any actual game code/ player controllers/prefabs etc and functions on top of it yet. Switching on instancing on materials also doesn't seem to help at all. Any help much appreciated.

    Not sure I got your question right, you mean something like the one below? Isn't that curb too sharp? We thought it's too sharp and decided to go with the larger ones and use the same textures as the straight ones.

    The package is using the default rendering pipeline because it was the most stable at that time, we don't use custom materials/shaders, only the built in ones, if it converts well in into LWRP then it might work, we haven't tested. Maybe someone here tried it and can tell you more.

    Sorry for not asking the question clearer. The reason why I'm asking is that I'm using Dungeon Architect with your asset. Dungeon Architect uses a grid system and with the current street turns in your asset it doesn't match up.

    So I was asking if you could include a street texture that does have the sharp turn like that.

    We tried to make a texture but then realized we need to make all the variations for the lines/line colors and that would be a waste of resources. So we decided to create a model instead of a texture same as the other ones. That way you can use all the existing street texture and they all fit nice, that seams the best way. Let me know if this works with your Dungeon Architect. The .fbx is attached below.
