I'm still not really sure what the Unity Hub is FOR, since it doesn't offer anything I'd expect it to.

Chief among them: the ability to copy a project.
I have a project where I think I did some serious mistakes, so I want to try if I can fix it by tweaking a few settings.
Naturally I'd like to make a copy of it first, so I can compare it with an untouched version and go back to it if it fails.
However, it seems it's not possible to do that with the hub? Do I really have to copy/paste the files (or export/import)?

You need to get on version control asap. Then you wouldn't have to make an copy of the entire project in order to test a few changes that you can roll back.

That being said, it's not the worst idea to enable copying a project through the hub.
