Subscription? Collaborate? Pro? Teams? I'm so confused.

Is 'Teams' what gives you 'Cloud build' ? Or is that just Collaborate? Why is everything named so badly? If I get Unity Plus, do I get Cloud Build? With the cloud build, I can pay extra for a bunch of addons - what do I get if I 'just' get Pro or Plus? I can't find this anywhere, and quite frankly every Unity page on this is far too keen to tell me how great it is, as opposed to giving me much useful Info. Help!

TL;DR - Do you get Cloud Builds as part of Unity Plus subscription?

Unity Teams is the subscription model for both the Cloud Build and the Collaborate services.

Unity Teams has a free tier which includes:
    • 1GB of Cloud Storage to use with Collaborate
    • 3 Seats for team members to use Collaborate
    • Ability to share local builds via the Cloud Build Dashboard
    • Collaborate version history is limited to 90 days
The paid tier, "Unity Teams Advanced" includes:
    • 25GB of Cloud Storage to use with Collaborate
    • 3 Seats for team members to use Collaborate with the ability to purchase more if required
    • Full use of the Cloud Build service including building in the Cloud
    • Unlimited Collaborate version history
There are also 3 add-ons which can be purchased which are:
    • 25GB extra Cloud Storage to use with Collaborate
    • Add an extra Concurrent build for building in the Cloud (Requires Unity Teams Advanced)
    • Add an extra Teams Seat to be allocated to a team member to use Collaborate (Requires Unity Teams Advanced)
To answer your question, Unity Teams Advanced is not included with a Pro or Plus subscription (Unless otherwise stated in a promotion). Unity Teams Advanced would need to be purchased for the ability to perform builds on the Cloud.

I hope that helps clarify. Please see here for pricing and more information.

When did that change? Does it also change for existing customers?

Those stealth changes to pricing and services are starting to annoy me.

If you ever manage to find the page where you upgrade the number of concurrent cloud builds, be sure to make a bookmark. As with this insanely over complicated subscription/feature/service model Unity came up with, you can pay for the possibility to run for example both an ios build and an android build at the same time. But that requires you to find that secret, hidden, mystery page. ;)

@AcidArrow This was never meant to be a stealth change. Collaborate and Cloud Build were free for a long time, until the introduction of Teams at which point it was included with Plus and Pro for a promotional period which then ended in January of this year.
Please let me know the URL at which you have seen that Teams is included with Plus or Pro and I will get this reviewed.

@HaakonL To solve the riddle of the Concurrent Builds mystery page. Please do the following:
    • Go to https://unity3d.com/teams
    • Click on "Choose Your Plan"
    • Scroll down and click on "Buy Now" where it says "More Builds Faster"
    • Bookmark the page!! :)

I am currently planning to build a game with a number of my high school students in Queens NY. I have gotten the three seats and will be beginning the project in Mid January. With Unity Teams Basic will I be able to have students working on the same code or the same level on two different computers? Or will they have to work on separate aspects and share those builds for the others on the team since Basic does not come with "Full use of the Cloud Build."

    Thanks for the support!

    Hi @MADGlobal,

Unity Teams Basic comes with three seats and gives you full access to the Collaborate features, meaning that all your team members can work on the same project. If your team is three members or less and your project does not exceed 1GB in size then Unity Teams Basic should meet your requirement.

You will need Unity Teams Advanced if you wish to increase your team size beyond three. If you wish to have more than 1GB of Cloud Storage then you can do this by upgrading to Unity Teams Advanced or by purchasing 25GB Cloud Storage packs.

Cloud Build is a different service altogether, which offers the ability to compile and test your project for many different platforms in the Cloud with added extras like notifications, building concurrently, unit testing, sharing builds and much more. If building locally within the Editor is suffice for your team and you do not require build automation or a platform for sharing then this service will likely not be needed.

You mention that you are working with students, if your school/college/university has Unity Pro for Education licenses then they will also be able to purchase a Unity Teams for Education add on which would give them the ability to provide advanced features like increasing team sizes and Cloud Storage. If this is of interest to you or your educational organization please have them contact their Unity representative for more information.

I hope this information is helpful.

Hi there - I am a bit confused about what is included in the extra concurrent build's - is it that you can build for mutiple platforms, or is this equivalent of adding for extra projects? Could someone please advise? Thanks!

I am in the trail version of unity team advanced subscription. I am trying to build a project.

When I turn on cloud after collab, and try to build, it doesn't give me the option to get the build. It says "cloud build requires a unity teams advanced subscription". It just gives me the option to upload build.

I have logged on to the same account in which I bought the advanced subscription trail.
    Screen Shot 2019-05-13 at 10.50.33 AM.png

It sometimes shows the option to build the project after I logout and login several times. But after I enter all the info it would say saving and nothing else. The saving never gets completed even after I checked back after days.

Please support. I dont know if i am doing anything wrong here.

    Thanks

@EtherGames Try configuring Cloud Build in the Developer Dashboard instead. The Services window has been getting pretty buggy lately and it's going to take a lot of work to bring it back up to spec.

Hi, I have a doubt that I felt might fit in this post.

If you are using Unity teams basic (with 3 seats) and upgrade to Unity teams advanced (minimum 3 seats), do you get 3 + 3 = 6? or Advanced just replaces Basic and you still have just the 3 original seats? (If you don't buy any additional seats I mean, of course).

    Thank you.

    Hey @schetty,

When you subscribe for Unity Pro you should receive an email with a Teams Advanced promotion code and detailed instructions on how to redeem it. If you have not received this, please reach out to us by logging a support ticket via the Collaborate section of the Developer Dashboard.

    Hope this helps!

I am here because of the same issue.

Why when you sign up for a Unity Pro subscription, don't you automatically turn on Teams Advanced for those subscribers. Having to then go and signup with a code for these extra steps seems pointless and a bad user experience.

The reason why this is confusing (one of the reasons, anyway), is that Cloud Storage is part of the Collaborate feature set, while the similarly named Cloud Build is not... and yet Cloud Build is right there in my Services window and I can enable it, although it gives me one disabled Start Cloud Build option in the History tab (why?) and a Deployments tab that gives me a bunch of text (that changes my mouse cursor when I point in it) and has no deployment functionality.

Before I enable Cloud Builds, the text I see in the Services list just says "Build games faster".

When I open this, I get a mixture of messages about building faster and upgrading, but it still lets me enable it.

It's just kind of sloppy and confusing. Why am I allowed to enable features I can't use? It needs cleaning up.

Hey Unity Support, maybe this may not fit in here but i want to ask,

If you buy a pro subscription, does every member that builds the game needs a pro subscription or not?

I'm jumping on this thread as it seems fitting but can collaborate be used on a central server?
Everything is just references to the cloud but no where is there any mention of using a local server to store a project.

    Hey Unity Support,

I need a bit oh help... My company has a Unity Pro account, that has been assigned to me and I have activated it in the software. I have been set as a "Manager" on the account.

I want to set up Unity Cloud Build for my project. My understanding is that with the Pro license I have access to Unity Teams Advanced (https://store.unity.com/compare-plans?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_cTOhfnc6wIVCrDtCh2z5wgGEAAYASABEgJ-7vD_BwE).

However I cant seem to find where this can be activated. When I access "Cloud Build" from the Dashboard I get inactive UI and this message: "Cloud Build requires a Unity Teams Advanced subscription"

    Could you assist on this?

    Many thanks! :)

Me and my employer have the same issue. According to this page we should get Unity Teams Advanced with a pro subscription: https://store.unity.com/compare-plans
However, our dashboard says we have Unity Pro and Unity Teams Basic, with an option to upgrade to Advanced via creditcard.
If this should be activated seperate like @ollieblanks mentioned via an email (that we didnt receive) I must say that is very confusing.

I am also confused regarding my Pro account's Unity Teams Advanced subscription that should be included with my pro account according to this page and this page that have said this for years now, it seems. Our company's organization shows that we have a Teams Basic subscription, but also several Unity Pro seats, but the Pro accounts do not have access to Teams Advanced.

How do Pro accounts access the tools that come with Teams Advanced via a Pro license?

@ollieblanks or @victorw could someone clear this up for us? As it is a paid service this should be addressed ASAP so we can start using what we bought.

Typically when you get your Pro license there's a follow up email with a link to activate Teams Adv. If you lost track of that email or never received it, reach out to our billing support here and see if they can help: https://support.unity3d.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
