A stylized shader modeled after modern hair rendering techniques. Ideal for cartoony or anime aesthetics.

Supports Shader Model 3.0 OpenGLES2 and up.

    Features:
    • Custom material inspector, for ease of use
    • Toon- or soft shading
    • Simple or anisotropic specular highlight based on the Kajiya-Kay model
    • Opaque or cutout rendering
    • Double sided, front- or back face culling
    • Directional Light lighting, or vertex lit (points lights)
    • Shadow casting and receiving

Full shader parameter list can be found here

Written from the ground up to run fast on mobile devices. Where most operations are done on a per-vertex basis, making this shader very efficient. Various shader features can be disabled to aid performance.

    Contents:
    • Documentation
    • Demo scene + head model (Creative Commons license)
    • Stylized Hair Shader (fully commented source code)
    • A sample anisotropic diffuse and normal map

For the best specular highlight, the UVs of your hair strands must be laid out vertically.

Due to the stylistic nature of the shader, indirect lighting (light probes, Enlighten) is not supported.

Just a note, the link from the asset store page goes to the water forum, not hair.

    Looks great!

Hi! I'm using Toon Colors Pro 2 for our game. Have you tested would they be compatible? There are some issues with mixing TCP2 with other shaders in the scene but it is like defacto toon shader nowadays.

I don't own TCP2 so I can't check. But I don't see how two shaders would conflict, as they would be on separate materials. The shader does work in both Deferred and Forward rendering.
