It looks good until the cutscenes of a humanoid character speaking...He looks really strange and not in a good way.
I would like to put crew of submarine in my game with some cut scenes. there are captain. one sailor and one girl, but if it is not good i will delete them. do you do not like character, or cut scene is stupid. character tell us that airplane is coming, i will after translate it on english
Do we need a cutscene for that? How about just audio representation so it doesn't break off the gameplay.
here are my characters. i would like to make game more fun and interesting. characters will talk sometimes some crazy things. i know that can break off gameplay, and i have to make cutscenes when is no battle. it will be a little complicated. is it good idea or not, and are the characters good or they must be more funny. i hope that you can understand my english http://www.flickr.com/photos/57180656@N03/6851316736/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/57180656@N03/6997440951/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/57180656@N03/6851316352/
Very little appeal in the characters. Cutting away from the game for that cutscene is super disorienting. I would remove them and the cutscenes, they just don't provide anything for the game. Just use an audio clip like suggested before.
I have both Silent Hunter III and Dangerous waters, both are great. SH3 is WW2 german Uboats, while DW is "modern" Subs (LA, Seawolf, Kilo, Typoon) DW demo : http://www.gamershell.com/download_8369.shtml Reviews : http://www.subsim.com/subsim_reviews_index.html Just for grins / self learning, I just started the basics of an active sonar in Unity In the attached picture, the red bar at the bottom is the "master sonar holder" (eventually it and the green "sensor cubes" will have an invisible / transparent texture). The green sensor bars are parented to the red bar. The red bar moves up, carrying the sensors with it . I have colliders attached to each sensor. The subs also have colliders. I'm using the OnTriggerEnter to read the sonar sensors. So I'll add more sensors (not sure how many ... 1 / degree I guess), then depending on the sensor report, you know the bearing. Assuming ownship is at the bottom of the display, the range is readily available from the movement of the sonar mechanism / it's coordinates Mike
I have an idea. Some people are saying that the cut-away to character cut-scene is a bit jarring and I agree- but what if the character appeared in a little square window in the corner of the screen? (sort of like the com messages in Starfox) That way there's no cut-away and the game is uninterrupted.
thank you for idea. i think that i find compromise. here is video http://youtu.be/EGmw5gS8Ug8 witch captain is better http://www.flickr.com/photos/57180656@N03/7018481623/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/57180656@N03/6872374536/
