I am trying to install Unity to start learning how to create games, but I'm stuck at 99% in the installation process, I already tried to install with admin privileges or disable windows defender (I see a people saying to do this in a comment) but nothing works and I don't find any other solution.
Try installing the Unity Editor from the download archive instead of within the Hub. If it fails you're more likely to get more useful information than it just being stuck. If successful you can just add the installed editor to the Hub. https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive
VPNs are illegal in most cases anyway, underage kids use them to download Porn and other non legal stuff.
This is not true. There are perfectly legitimate reasons why people use VPNs. I use one every single day to connect to my company's servers. Please stop spreading misinformation.
I wouldn't say in most cases. There's a lot of legitimate reasons to use one todays, including ones that Schneider21 pointed out. In any case, this all sounds like a connection problem your end. Make a ticket with the Support team at https://support.unity.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=65905 and they can help you out.
will second the microgame thing. i hope they make it more clear that u have to choose microgame to go past 99% download. cuz when i see that i usually assume a problem has happened.
Just cancel the download window & don't need to care about the stuck. Unity has already been installed on your machine.
I had similar issues with Unity Editor a few months ago, it allowed me to activate the key file but kept refusing to connect with servers or allow me to login. Gave up in frustration and figured if I walked away long enough the solution would appear and I could finally get started. You mentioned having to install via admin privileges... by any odd chance, are you running a Windows 10 1904 version? I had to start using that workaround for a lot of programs back in October 2020, but after updating to 20H2 everything seems to be installing normally again. Give it a try, let us know what happens. And no, VPNs are not illegal -- including the one that's built into Microsoft Edge, Windows 10 and every major commercial antivirus software on the market.
so when i got stuck at 99% i closed the page completely and tried again but still kept getting stuck. i went to my program files and deleted the file for unity but not unity hub. i proceeded to try again. it now fails at 45%. im now attempting to download from the archive. probably not the smartest approach but so far so good. ill reply later if i have any further problems.
when i download it in this manner, how do i update it or will it update on its own? edit: i ran the unity uninstall application for both of them and am restarting proper. talk about doing things the hard way.....
Didn't they say they would work on and fix all these installation issues back in 2019? Such a pain to install through the hub.
Same problem I mean I have had to go thu loads of these pages always I always have problems with any game I should get e new computer
Once I downloaded it to 99% and it got stuck, then I deleted it and downloaded it again. It would automatically take me to the main page.
Here's what you can do to speed up the installation process: Try using a desktop istead of a laptop Minimise the use of internet Don't let your device go to sleep If using a laptop, try using an ethernet instead of wireless wifi Be patient Don't install all modules at once, install the editor first without any modules, then add the ones you want later Don't do anything else on the device while it's downloading
This happen to me as well, I waited for 5-6 min and it finish downloading Maybe some thing with the percentage bar it think its done but it not ? Just an idea... Programmer_dev123, yes that work for me, thanks!
just wait for sometime and click here and there so you can go to the page SELECT MICROGAME and then it will be easy ,as i was having the same problem and i downloaded it from my mobile hotspot as i dont have wifi or lan after so many unsuccessful attempt i downloaded it,thank god
I have the same problem- I selected the minigame of platformer and when I try to add project on Unity, it says install editor.
Any Idea? Not running VPN or anthing... Wanna download the editor... so I can try out New Project... and learn something... but GOD knows what is the issue.... HELP!!! BTW Tried to install several times... and ALWAYS stops, never finishes any of the download...
I'm also still having exactly the same problem in Nov 2023 Have been trying for days now but can't seem to find a proper solution. I have submitted a support request and will update on here
I had the same problem. Installing from the Hub gets Stuck at 99%. Restarting the Hub didn't work. Can't select microgame because can't create a project because no installation exists. I closed the Hub. Downloaded Unity from the download archive the https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive. Restarted the Hub, tried to locate the Editor installation by picking the "Editor" folder, but the folder detection is buggy too - you select the "editor" folder like it wants but instead of going with it, the file dialog browses the files inside the Editor folder. What a poor experience UPDATE, the dialog to "locate existing installation" is confusing. It has a button "Select Editor", and there installation has an "Editor" folder but it isn't looking for that folder. Instead, you have to browse inside that folder, find and select the "unity.exe", then click the "Select Editor" button. Now it works
I tried pretty much all the above-mentioned strategies, and the only thing that worked for me was a VPN. It was fairly easy to find a free one and get it set up. It took me less than 5 minutes. Prior to that, I had tried the following without success: Waited for ages at 99% Deleted the Unity Hub cache, Ran as administrator (on Windows) Tried installing different versions of Unity Freed up an excess of space on my hard drive. I can't say for sure if any of those other things may have helped in some way (aside from waiting since when it worked, there was no waiting), only that using a VPN was the last thing I tried after 10's of previous attempts. I should also note that I didn't use to have thing problem on my machine. The only thing that I can think has changed is the Unity Hub version. *shrug*
