I remove the part where I say there is no moderation ;)
Very good. All the fakes I saw are gone already, like this one: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93043781&searchtext=
A fake Minecraft was in that page.
    Funny requested game, rofl: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93055223&searchtext=

I voted up some games posted in here, but still looking for a godamn good game to favorite.

The icons are somewhat big enough for a very good art presentation. I think the game icon is 99% what makes me hit the page to know more about the game... And oh well, there are so many ugly icons.

I saw a "gay simulator" this morning. Just with a screenshot of a random dude and a description like that

Looked pretty fake to me. But it is now gone.

I think they need to make Greenlight more accessible here and there. Then it can be a nice resource for Indies too. If you have a taste apart from the mainstream then it's fun to bet which games are hot for the audience and which aren't. From browsing through the list quickly i personally found this one looking interestingly. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92946377&searchtext= Somewhere there even was a voxel space invaders.

ROFL. To submit a game though you need to have purchased one game from Steam. So I find it funny people will hand out CC details and stuff then post something like that. It is funny though lol.

I just browsed a bit trough Greenlight.
There are already over 500 "games". A lot of that stuff is utter crap. A shame for those who really put actual effort in their games and hope to get it into Steam.
Maybe Valve should charge a small fee to get a game on that list.

A fee won't help. Even developing a piece of crap game costs a bit. so if it's a $20 fee or whatever most will pay that anyway. End of the day the community decides.. the crap will filter to the bottom.

And the community post there some harsh comments, not that I donnot agree with them...
I see most ppl browsing there for something different from what they see in Steam's front page. And I like it.

I think that $20 actually would be enough to get at least trolls out of that.

No, it has to be real, 200$ refundable if your game is rejected- but a steam staff member has to give it a good look at and figure out if it was a real project .

Well the Slender Source game is one of the most popular ones. While the original Slender (not by Parsec uploaded) is not that popular.

During midweek madness or other sales actions it will be cheaper.

Btw. regarding things that matter: The official Release Date for Torchlight II is Thursday, September 20th, 2012. . :O)

Its the only way to make sure you only see projects that will actually see the light of day . Think of it like a deposit .

Greenlight isn't exclusively for projects that will see light of day though.

If I thought a game was good enough to go to steam I wouldn't even bat my eye lids at $200.

How I see it is that some games get accepted while others do not. Even though some games do not get accepted, they still get a ton of exposure. Greenlight is a community website to promote games, not just to hopefully put them on steam.

Then you can get your money back when its rejected. This is the ONLY way to filter out the crap , other wise theirs nothing stopping me or anyone else from posting a bunch of half done tech demos and clogging the market .

Considering kids in America spend 200$ on SHOES , 200$ isn't alot of money .

It makes you think long and hard before posting your project up . Make it refundable when / if your project is rejected .

Games on greenlight do not get rejected and removed. Some games simply get on steam, some don't.
Really, there is no need to implement paid services on greenlight. It's been out for what, 2 days? It will stabilize soon enough.

I disagree, Valve needs to make people pay to post . If not 200$, at least 50$ . Otherwise your going to keep getting stupid jokes.

If I have to put down some serious dough , I think to my self, is this REALLY something I want to put out . Is this a REAL game that I'm going to put time into ?

If not then I wont pay , if it is I'll find 200$ to get it up their .

    +1
The last thing I'll say is that I feel greenlight should be for people who actually want to publish a game on steam .

But man you need to think that the people who are voting on your game are the ones who will buy your game,if your game can't be popular people won't buy it.And also I think that neither kickstarter nor greenlight will help you in order to make a fan base, they're just places where your fans can go and support you.

By my understanding, that's not entirely true. It's still ultimately determined by Valve's small review team; what Greenlight does is to help put the games in their submission queue into priority order. Getting the most votes on Greenlight doesn't guarantee you'll be on Steam, it just means the review team will take an active interest in you more quickly.

If you've got the $200, you'd be better off spending it on marketing.

Spending $200 to get on Steam, or the chance to get on Steam, would be the greatest $200 an indie could spend on marketing. Now this assumes you have a decent product that has a chance, and isn't some of the garbage on there right now.

I meant that rather than trying to elevate 'proper' projects above the masses by requiring them to put down a $200 deposit, they could elevate themselves above the masses by spending the money on marketing. To be honest, Steam is getting so populated now that simply being on there isn't really enough to draw attention to yourself; if you're not on there then it takes you off the table for many gamers, but once you're on there you still have to draw attention to yourself.
