Hello all, As many of you know, the Text Recognition feature is currently deprecated in Vuforia 6.5 and is no longer present in the Core Samples. While this feature is still available for use in 6.5, the word list was normally downloaded with the samples. Since the base wordlist is not present in the Core Samples, I have attached a zip of the base wordlist for download. Once you've downloaded the file, unzip it and place it in the following directory: Assets/StreamingAssets/QCAR. Create this directory if it does not exist in your project. This file should now be seen by the TextRecognition component. Please keep in mind that this feature will be completely removed in a future version of Vuforia. Thanks!
@Vuforia-Strasza How do I use TextRecognition with this? It just says I have to download the Core Samples?
Hi surfknasen, I've updated the post above to include some instructions on where to place the file attached to the this post. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you. Thanks!
Hey @Vuforia-Strasza I'm a little confused that if I kept using this feature in the current version to build my app, would this function work in my app once it is fully removed in the future?
@trdesign330 If you upgrade your project to a version of Vuforia that has Text Reco completely removed it will no longer function in your project.
The Core Samples Project which has Text Recognition working in it. I want it too. Can you provide us with the Core Samples Project which has text recognition perfectly working in it??
There no longer exists such a sample as the feature has been deprecated. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Can you be more specific about the issue you are facing after doing this? Also, which Unity and Vuforia are you using?
@Aiursrage2k Support for this feature was no longer practical as the team that developed it did not transition to PTC. Thanks, Vuforia Support
