No one to encourage me? Tell me what do you think of my character.
The idea is to make a Platform game like Voodoo Nightmare on Atari St and Amiga where you explore temples and collect diamonds.

Thanks. The character is a potato indeed. Its name comes from Spud in English. The jump is weird because there is no animation at the moment. Same thing for the walk. This is really early work.

    Nice work so far momone50.
I like the aesthetic overall. Real nice attention to detail on the gems textures and details on the pillars and ground. How did you create that ground texture?
I have never played the games you mentioned so I can't compare how you're doing with the examples given. Are there any modern examples you can point to?

You may consider increasing the resolution of the hat sightly since its one of the focal points of the game. Can see the polys just a little bit in full screen, but everything else looks good.

We are all developers so feedback comes in spurts and phases. Realize we all are working on things so we all may be busy at times.

    Keep posting updates.

    Hi.
Thanks for your Wise advice about the hat. The fact is i created the character some time ago and the game was meant to be made with XNA. The game was at first a 2,5d platformer and so the hat was less important. I will increase the res of the final character.
Concerning the sand texture. It's just a Noise Effect made with Gimp and a sand Normal Map texture.

I can't find modern examples of what i want to make. Isometric view is not used so often nowadays... Could be compared to "Lara Croft and the guardian of Light" for the view and for the theme. But really different for the atmosphere as this is a funny character.

    I'll keep posting my Work.

    Hi everyone !
I'm currently working on this ostrich as a mount for Spuddzy.

First i added stirrups for Spuddzy to put his feet but it's too far from the saddle and feels weird.
Then i decided to put his feet on the saddle.
What do you think of it? Should i keep the stirrups even if i put the feets on the saddle?
What do you think of my ostrich?

I'm waiting for your feedback and great ideas.

I feel the ostrich is maybe too realistic? It'll seam weird to have such a stylized character on top of a realistic one.
I'd have to see the textures though to see how it would look. It's hard to tell without the model being textured yet.

I agree, the character would need vibrant colors , and the texture sand should be detailled but keeping a cartoon feeling like Mario World 3D.

Make it more cartoon like the character instead of realistic.

I like the character how you posed him - sitting on the saddle.
I think you should keep the stirrups and allow them to have some nice secondary motion when the ostrich walks/runs.
Agree with the above as well. Stylize the ostrich with a bigger head and eyes, and slightly bigger feet but thinner legs. Maybe make the body smaller also.
    Nice update.

    Hi!
I agree with all what you say.
I will make this ostrich a bit more cartoonistic.
About the stirrups, that's exactly what i was thinking. I will make them move when ostrich runs. It will run
a clumsy way (if i manage to do so).
An yes, the idea behind the graphics is to have stylized, cartoon graphics, like mario for example.
I'll post an update when finished.

Have a good day everyone !
