There is no such thing as Unity2d. There is just Unity.

Reddit says otherwise. Clear divide between Unity3D and Unity2D subreddits

Subreddits can be created by anyone with enough positive karma.

Unity allows you to make both 3D and 2D games. In other words, Unity2D is the part of Unity.

Unity2D doesn't exist as a separate software or product.

They've simply subdivided their community to keep discussions centered on specific topics. We do the same thing here.

Seems like it's more of a complaint about the Apple ecosystem then any actual comparison between engines.

The story basically reads "I tried each engine until it became to hard. Then I gave up".

You also have several facts that are wrong.

Yeah well I wasn't too happy with Apple after everything I had to go through to get started.

True. But Apple has managed to build a very effective and profitable system. If you want a cut of their pie, you play by their rules.

What it really seems to come down to is you don't have the skills to make a game yet. It takes most people a couple of years of practice to become competent. Take the time to learn the craft first, before jumping to publishing games on the App Store.

The alternative would be another platform like Android where you're constantly competing with shovelware titles including clones of your own games. There are even companies - like Ketchapp - that specialize in doing just that.

Ketchapp is now acquired by Ubisoft.
