After installing Window's security patch, I have noticed that Unity freezes ever so often. when i open the animator it freezes, when I name a prefab it freezes when I don't use it for 2-5 mins it freezes (texting someone etc.).

I ask of solutions or similar cases so I can confidently file a bug report.

Worst case scenario: Upgrading my PC (seriously they are pretty expensive these days)

    Specs:
    Dell Latitude E5430
    8GB LPDDR3 RAM (Custom/Upgraded)
    Intel Core i5 3320M
    512GB HDD (Custom/Upgraded)
    Windows 10 Home

If you just did the mega creators update for Win10 try giving it a day or two first, it ain't done yet.

Also update that old Also do these couple of things. List what version of Unity you are running, and go to the issue tracker and post a buggy report.

I was using Unity 2017.3 (stable) and reinstalled it (didn't work) then installed Unity 2017.1 (the most stable one I could find) still didn't work. I also don't want to downgrade OS and/or disable any security patches.
