Discussion SpaceNavigator <-> Unity, why not?

    For many years the Space Navigator 3D mouse has been my preferred method of navigating in 3 dimensions.
    It is compatible with Unreal Engine, 3ds max, blender, Revit, Maya, Cinema4D what not.
    Except Unity. For some reason there is no compatibility. And when using MRTK, the driver even makes the camera move crazy in play mode.
    Why is it like this? Is this a thing on Unity's end or Space Navigator's end?

    I am aware of a third party plugin but that becomes part of the Unity project, rather than integrating quietly with the editor.
