I have an .ogg background music playing throughout the level. However, it's VERY loud when running game in editor so I reduced the volume to 0.5.

However, I have some objects (enemies) that reproduce a sound every now and then, but those sounds are VERY QUIET when running the game on phone.

These settings are for background music:

and these settings are for enemy object sounds:

The only option I didn't try is making the enemy object sounds louder through an sound editor program, like Audacity.

Any other suggesstions on how to make them louder than background music?

You can set the output of the music and the output of all enemy sounds to two different audio mixer groups. Then in the audio mixer you can boost the enemy sounds up to +20 dB.

Thank you! That will help me with the loudness of the sounds.
