    Hi All,

Just wanted to share some numbers that might help anyone who want to sell paid (vs free with in-app) games on android.
My current game (XON Episode Three) was released two weeks ago. From my experience the first month is the best month of sales. Currently I'm selling 40-50 units a day (which is horrible) and the game is in the 10th position on the best new paid games list.
If only 9 new games are doing better I think it says something about sale numbers on android. I know that my game is pirated all over the web.
My conclusion is - If you develop a game for android, make it free with ads or in-app purchases.
If anyone has different info or an opinion in the subject please share!

    Cheers!

    Congrats on that many sales!
The paid app numbers for android are almost nill.
So, I'm not surprised 40+ units gets you that high.
The community there has grown to expect everything for free (to start at least) so I agree, do free with ads or iap there almost always.

Have you put the game on IOS too? The paid app market there is MUCH better. I'd be curious to see the ratio of sales between the two.

I'm going to put my games on iOS. I think that the problem with android is piracy more then people expecting free apps but both are a factor. I will report back after I'll see iOS sales.

This is precisely the experience I've had. I was up to 8th on the new paid games list, higher is some countries. Typically looking at 40-60 units per day. After the 30 days of new was up, sales plummeted, I'm still in the top 30 of top paid puzzle games but selling between 10-15 a day now. iOS version is in apple review right now so I'll see how that goes. I'll be also releasing an ad supported version for android. Looking at my analytics I'm just shy of 17,000 active players but only around 1300 sales.

Something I thought was perplexing was that even though I was #1 top new paid puzzle game for most of May, I was never 'trending' or 'featured' on the Play store in "new and updated puzzle games". Course those lists were filled with the big guys games that had been out for months/years and just had a small update to keep them seeming fresh.

Just noticed that we're right next to each other on the top Puzzle Game charts, #37 XON3 and #38 Cubix Challenge. I'm just finishing my 'new' high and passing you on my way down into obscurity!
