Bug [SOLVED] Unity hangs on "Connecting"

    I installed unity-editor-5.1.0f3+2015091601_amd64.deb on Kubuntu 14.04 and on launching the editor, it would get stuck on "Connecting". Looking in ~/.config/unity3d/Editor.log, I saw the following:

    IsTimeToCheckForNewEditor: Update time 0 current 1444405262
    CreateDirectory '/home/jimmy/.local/share/unity3d/Unity' failed:

    I manually created the directory ~/.local/share/unity3d and then re-launched the editor without any problems.

    I suffered the same on Ubuntu 15.04. Again, manually creating the folder got me to the 'Connecting...' screen.

    Thanks man, I checked my log and it sure did fix the issue.
