[Solved] Lots of files are corrupted and can't recover

    Hi

    Today we synced the project between team members and now all of us has corrupted .cs files. Many of them are just empty, when we go back to previous version they are still all empty! How can this be possible?

    Please help us this is really urgent.

    It seems like the project is downloading but nothing comes through. So it downloads everything blank. Please some sort of help this is very urgent.

    Hi @israelazo and @JakeTBear! We recently rolled back a server-side change after discovering an issue. We're terribly sorry for the inconvenience. Could you try again to download your changes and see if they're still corrupted?

    Thanks, we were able to rollback and now we finishing sorting things out. That was very scary guys, we literally had 47 .cs files wiped with tons of code and no possible way to retrieve, we will be keeping a safe copy from now on.

    Hey @JakeTBear, we 100% agree and are making damn sure that kind of stuff doesn't happen again. We are all very sorry for causing this issue. Behind the scenes, your files were fine, safely stored in our central repository. What happened was that after rolling out an upgrade to one of our regional caches, it was sometimes saving files with empty contents (we haven't uncovered why just yet, but we will). Once we rolled the deployment back and removed the offending cached files, everything was fine, eventually repopulating with the full versions from our primary region.

    Hi @Kassem_m31, which version of Unity are you upgrading to 2019.3 from? Are you trying to download a project from the Cloud into a newer Unity version? What errors are you seeing in the Console or Editor.log, if any?

    Hello, I am getting random empty blank files instead of my assets, or some files are getting corrupted when I collaborate, I don't know what is going on, this has been going since yesterday also, I lost an animator player controller for my main character just a while ago when I updated my version with the latest from my team.

    Any help?

    I'm sorry to hear that! Have you tried using the Collab History window to go back to your previous commit where the animator player controller for your character was last seen to verify that it's still there? If it is, try making a different edit, that can easily be undone later, and publishing that change to ensure that the latest changes are synced with Collab.
