I have the same issue, but I am using Avira Antivirus. But I don't know how to tell Avira, that it is nothing dangerous, so that I can update my API. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks for your help.

I store my projects on a Dropbox shared folder so I can access them from multiple machines and get this error. It goes away if I pause syncing but then I need to remember to turn syncing on again when I finish and with my memory that rarely happens.

Stuck with the same problem. makes using Unity not possible. I tried all the suggested solutions. I am running a vanilla windows system (fresh setup) with the project white listed in the windows defender. Other apps installed are just: visual studio code and affinity designer.

Had the same issue, but I have the project in Dropbox. I paused sync and restarted the unity project and no more compile error.

Solution No 1 : Restart Unity (Take time)
Solution No 2 : Reimport project (Take time)

Solution No 3 : Make some changes in any script then save it, go to unity (error won't be there) go to script again undo changes save again.. Welcome

I would like to know why so many Unity users have bitcoin malware on their systems. I suspect it's being distributed through the asset store.

@richardgengle you can select the script asset (the file) or a folder there in the Project Window and click reimport there.

I'm embarrassed to say that I had a trojan type bitcoin miner on one of my work stations. When removed with malwarebytes the dll issue was resolved.

My friend had this issue, Malwarebytes caught a Malware.AI that was causing this issue. Deleting the quarantined file solved it.
