[Solved] "Cannot Submit Change to Server" error

cool! thanks for confirming! Yeah its a reasonable restriction, id LOVE an error message. thanks man!

 

So I'm uploading my project for the first time. Usually near the end it fails, and the only error message I get is "derp- failure to submit changes -derp." Where is the actual error message, telling me what went wrong, so that I can proceed to debug like some kind of software developer? Is this version control for ants? I'm sure it exists, I must just be missing it.

Also my collab history tab is just blank, which seems weird.

 

Hello everyone, I have found something that I think is rather interesting. Every time I collab after this error, it still says the same file size before I hit collab. But when I reach the loading wheel, the file size has dropped really far. It went from about 2000 to 300 to 70, to 43, loading faster every time. Now at 25, I'm getting : Unknown error, unable to access cloud services. Can anyone help!

Lol i had the same problem. Thanks for that conclusion. I also wonder why Unity collab is simply not able to tell that its because of that substance files? I literally tried to solve this for 3 months.

edit: I called it to early. Problem is still here. Upload failed at 100% Guess its time to cancel my collab subscription because its not usably and move back to github again.

Ok So its 2018 and its still bugged without a doubt. im a complete and utter noob at unity but ik for a fact that my game was fine before i updated Collab. I finally finished painting my terrain everything was fine and then i tried to collab and it said to update (didnt give me the option) it updated and then i got these errors. i ended up removing some things then clicking the "Choose mine" and reloading unity a couple times and it went away. this needs to be fixed

 

Got the same error, I fixed it by restarting Unity.

Same problem here, its happening because you are try to submit changes to the server, but u have a merge to be done, so, uv got to download and install the diff/merge tool (Source tool / diff merge, for example), it allow u to check what is different bettwen your local projct and the server project, so, after u check the changes with this tool u can make the server update files using the collab.

2021, facing a similar problem. Log gives no usefull information at all :
--> Upload stops randomly after sending few MB.
--> "Cannot submit change to server"

We have more than enough storage left on our Dashboard (1.5GB / 25).

Edit : For some reason the bug report feature in Unity crashes, so I can't report the bug :-/...

Edit 2 : after some digging using the Partial Publish, I was able to locate the issue. One folder refused to upload. Renaming it solved the issue ("Sounds" --> "Sound").
It would be nice to have some clue on what is causing errors on collab fails, as this kind of error clearly is not explainable, and hard to solve.

 

i just had the same issue, so i backed up my assets, deleted them all from project folder, then reopened Editor and Synced, it worked, after that overwritten the assets with those i had backed up and published them.
