I would like to build a development build for flash so I can put it on my website and allow people to play it without having to have the Web Player, but I do not see any option for flash deployment in the build settings. I'm using the latest version of Unity (4.6 beta). Flash deployment was also missing in my previous version of Unity (4.4.3f3). I've read a few things saying that Unity dropped flash deployment, but I noticed that they show it in the documentation here. In fact, Unity also states "Flash deployment licenses are no longer available and Flash will be removed from Unity 5. However, Flash support will continue throughout the 4.x cycle" which can be read here. I'm just wondering if it is possible. I'm using the free version of Unity 4.6 beta on Windows 8.1 if that makes any difference.

If Unity has dropped flash deployment, then why would they tease us with it in the documentation? Could it be only for the pro version?

    Thanks,

    - Chris

    Hi Chris,

Not really a documentation related topic :)

Correct, we have decided to discontinue Flash support. This means that new Unity 4.x licenses doesn't contain the option to build Flash games. Instead we have support for WebGL in Unity 5, where the first game was announced a few days ago at http://blogs.unity3d.com/2014/10/14...l-owlchemy-labs-conversion-of-aaaaa-to-asm-js. We believe that WebGL will be the best option for web deployment in future.

Flash is however included in documentation to support existing customers, who is using this feature.

    Hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the helpful answer, Rasmus. It did answer my question. But why did Unity decide to drop Flash support?
