Software Engineer Student - LF Experience

As the title says, I'm a Software Engineering student looking to gain some experience in game development. All of my coding thus far has been in C# and I've dabbled a little with C# scripting in Unity. I want to take my experience and apply it while also learning more and having an actual project to show in my portfolio that I worked on. Due to my lack of experience, I'm willing to do this part-time volunteer (not paid), just with the promise that you'll be a reference if need be whenever I look for an actual job.
