Looks pretty good, but I can't help but notice the strong similarities (both graphically and the subject matter) to another WIP on this forum

Thank you, and yes, I noticed that game while in this one was in development. But there are differences between them. While TIE seems like more of a storyline set game, not as much based around actual depression, this game has no set kind of storyline and is directly about depression. It is about trying to last as long as possible, and getting points in the end, not set on a week."and the daily grind that we are all forced to endure" It states the word "all", my game is more about the few who really have depression, not more of how life is repetitive, and the daily repeat. I hope this helps add a bit of separation to these two games.

This is uncannily similar... I thought it was TIE and they had renamed it.

Yes, they both use the word "depression", and may look graphically the same (although TIE is more of a straight view of the room, this game is slightly looking down at the room meaning how you can see the floor or counter get darker as it gets farther) Another thing, when the graphics get down to the head being 2 pixels wide, there isn't much separation you can get. But they are very different games. I mean, TIE is a storyline game with "impacted endings" in the span of a week, there isn't any of that in this. This is more of a survival game, if you would call it that. Trying to deal and cope with depression. I can't say what I don't know, but TIE seems like a not very skill needed game, it seems it's more for the atmosphere and moods, no problem with that. My game on the other hand involves balancing of vital, short time. Deciding if the late rent should be payed, or if the medication is more important. Or if going to work today would be more important then wasting a day watching TV, just to cope with your depression. Once again, i hope i could have provided some more, detailed, separation between the two.

I thought the exact same thing.

Question Zargo: Where did you get your information on these particular aspects of mental health?

Well, at first I wasn't very serious about this game, using just my knowledge of what I thought was right. The more I worked on it though, I started to read about these mental illnesses on sites here and there. This series isn't about teaching, or awareness, it is a game, and is mostly based off from my knowledge, so it is not fact or anything. So the information is my knowledge on it, along with some research.

Hello, I've played your game for few minutes.

It's depressing and dark. I was hoping that something would happen (and maybe it would) and then i stopped playing beacuse lack of time and emptiness put me in bad mood.

The good thing is that it works and is quite educational for me. Main character should have option to do something less sad than getting drugs or drinking if he wants to stop his depression.

    Good luck with games!

Cool game. I played the web-player for sometime, I can really appreciate some of the ideas you have here, it's always interesting to see how one perceives something such as an emotion, felt by all, but so different to many.

Kinda what TIE is, but sure!

Mic87, I see that the feel of the game worked. I am glad that it was educational for you for the time you played."something less sad" is not very much the aim, but there is also many ways and strategies in this game, not just drinking and medication. Like owning a pet, doing well in work, watching TV, etc. Thanks!

TonyHowak, Thank you, I like your game too. Really like the art and lighting effects. I didn't notice your game until I was about halfway through development. It is interesting to see, although I wouldn't say "depression" is so much as an emotion. I am sorry if my game is similar to yours, respectively yours being worked on first. I hope your game goes well!

Found myself really enjoying the game. I'm still playing it too! :D
Only problem is the instructions aren't very clear, but after doing a few tasks you can figure it out yourself. One thing I haven't figured out is how to take the medicine. I believe it was on the 5th or 6th night my guy was tossing and turning in bed.

It's a very promising game, and I like games like it very much, Good Luck! :)

My dog died after 1 day of no food, little sad. Then the next day my guy committed suicide. This game is really fun, but seriously sad. My score was 3949 >.<

Thanks! Yeah, I didn't put much work into instructions, but glad you figured it out. The next game has a lot more work put into the tutorial than this one, won't be a problem in that one. Oh and medication is taken automatically when you buy it.

So the game did the trick? Usually does. Yeah, I think my top score was like 6000, but things started going bad.

So I'm glad you liked it, and if you liked this one, Insanity is coming along well, and will have a lot more in it.
