I'm trying the Smartfox Unity demo, but I can't seem to connect. http://www.smartfoxserver.com/labs/API/

Do I need to run a specific version of the server?

I appear to be able to connect, receive a version ack, and then I get some error.

I'm using Vista SmartFox lite edition:
    http://www.gotoandplay.it/_articles/multiplayerCentral/

And the Unity lobby client from:
    http://www.smartfoxserver.com/labs/API/

I customized my server start.bat to point to java.

    Code (csharp):
    1. @cd Server
    2. @"c:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java" -cp . -Djava.util.logging.config.file=logging.properties it.gotoandplay.smartfoxserver.SmartFoxServer
    3. @pause
and I customized the server ip and port. But I can connect so I know that's working.

Maybe I should use the basic edition instead of the lite version. I'll give that a try.

Yes - the lite version is not supported. It is somewhat EOL (will be replaced by something else if I heard/remember correctly).

If you have any other issues then poke me :)

BTW - API version 1.1 is only a few days away, and it will contain amongst others a fully running island demo as a chat world - all networked up with SFS + some revamped example projects.

I'm looking forward to seeing that.

Will it have the ability to sync the positions of Avatars, or just be chat?

It syncs transforms and animations, with interpolation of the transforms.

Chat part is the usual one off message with a little GUI element drawn at the avatar position.

It does _not_ use authoritative server extensions and no prediction either, as that was not the aim of the tutorial.

Thomas has done a great job with his API also, we (www.friendshangout.com) have been using it for the last few months and I have to say that I haven't had any hiccups with it :)

    Thanks again Thomas!
