    Hey guys!

Are there any smaller communities for learning/supporting each other while learning Unity 3D? I am new and have been beating my head against a wall trying to fix this problem in my game. I've tried asking a question on answers.unity3d.com and also the forums, but I think my question got kind of lost at sea since there are so many users here.

I'm thinking it'd be easier to learn and find support with a smaller community. So does anyone know of any particularly active Unity 3D communities elsewhere? Maybe a subreddit or a forum or something? I haven't found any while Googling, but maybe I'm such a big noob that I just don't know what to Google haha.

    Thanks!

(P.S. If you want to take pity on me and help, here's the question I posted: http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/1147046/need-help-replacing-the-ball-in-roll-a-ball-tutori.html But I truly am interested in finding some smaller communities)

I don't think a smaller community is what you really want. More people means more exposure, and more likely someone understands your problem or is otherwise able to help.

The reason your other question didn't get answered is probably because it was in the wrong section. People tend to ignore questions that are way off topic, and that section in particular is kind of lightly inhabited. External Tools is generally intended for questions about those specific tools, or issues in Unity because of those tools. Your issue is more scripting related, and would be better suited to Scripting, or right here in Getting Started.

Wait... I just looked, and perhaps another reason why your thread didn't get answered is because it was posted 15 minutes ago. You just have to be patient and wait a bit sometimes...

Quoting this for emphasis. Questions take time to be answered as many people on these forums are busy. Switching to smaller forums wouldn't actually help matters either as you would simply have fewer people but those people would still be just as busy as those here. It isn't unusual for a question to take hours (or even a day or two in rare cases) to be answered.

On a somewhat related note does anyone know where I can download these tutorials in their completed state? It's a bit hard to troubleshoot questions when I have never actually done them.

Also, I don't know if you edited your post or something, but it's now pointing to Unity Answers, which isn't really the best place for that sort of question either. Answers is great when you have a very specific question, like "How can I find the pependicular to two vectors" or something like that.

But your question is more along the lines of "I don't understand what's going on here, can somebody help," and that often requires discussion and back-and-forth which is more suited to this forum than to Answers.

In general, this (Getting Started) forum is the best place for questions from people new to Unity, and will almost always get some responses within a day or so.

I hunted down the thread in question. I meant to mention the difference between Answers and here, but I was in charge of watching the little monster at the time and got distracted.

I actually meant the question I posted in Answers, which was posted two days ago and also the question I posted in the Roll-a-Ball tutorial thread which I posted last night. I was not talking about the question I posted in the External Tools forum, which I actually posted AFTER I made this thread, lol.

This is really useful feedback, thank you! Do you think it would be best to post that sort of question here in Getting Started instead of in the External Tools section?

Hmm. I need to redo roll a ball and the new 2D one for my own nefarious purposes. Once I get around to it I can put up a repo for community use.

Actually there is a cool little Unity community at http://www.unityninja.net/
It's a much younger community and are constantly posting ideas for new games. It's a small but very enthusiastic crowd.
