    @fholm: The character movement doesn't use pathfinding at the moment; I'm just using the LookAtMouse from the wiki, with a couple more lines to move the player forward when the mouse is pressed down.

    I'll probably try to use the built in navmesh later too, for alternative way of moving around. My enemies are using it already, though the combat is in such an early stage that it's not shown in the video.

    It might be the screenshot, but the texture looks a bit flat. The model looks great though - all gnarly and old :)

    I would love to buy this asset as it is very well done and you have now confirmed that it can withstand a considerably large stress on the system. The only thing that stops me is that I don't really have the money to spend. I know it is only $25 but I am a college student so I need it for other things. Also, I think you're fog of war wouldn't be able to incorporate a minimap where the player would have total view of the map since you have a separate render size of the fog. However, it would be very useful for a RPG style game or a game that doesn't need a minimap.

    Thanks for the replies.

    Going to use a 3rd Person view for Quantum Wreckers - it seems to work better for me anyways, then a strict FP view.

    Roots Theme Music and menu preview

    In this video we showcase the roots main theme music plus a preview of the menu being worked on. Written by a very talented composer, the roots theme music sets the tone for the backstory of the game despite the fact that the game is a shooter focusing on non-stop action.

    An early test build (web player), which you can try by clicking the image

    The game mechanics up to this point are fairly simple: hold the mouse button to move and click to interact with things. I think I've got the basics down pretty good. I'm currently working on the combat system, and of course more levels and art assets.

    I like it so far, nice graphics and it controls pretty well. A few things I noticed: it would be cool if the distance of the held cursor from the character changed his run speed, despite collecting 2 keys I couldn't figure out how to open the locked door on the second floor, and if I clicked on the text in the green or blue bars I could get an editing cursor (it didn't actually let me edit the text, but the cursor shouldn't be there)

    Good work, keep it up!

    Yanneyanen, I'm loving the graphics and gameplay. I also couldn't find out how to open the locked door on the second floor. Also, in the primary camera angle you can't open the first chest on the second floor.

    Answer: There's a torch that is not lit...

    Great game so far! I had a really poor framerate on the first floor. Also, the point of view on the camera felt pretty wierd. Other than that though, your mechanics are spot-on.

    EDIT: I finally figured out that Middle-Mouse button shifts the POV to be more top-down. I think a good addition would be that positive mouse wheel raises the camera's POV to no higher than your cap (just shy of 90deg?), and negative mouse wheel lowers the cam POV to no less than your low-end cap (45deg?) You could still keep the middle mouse button, just make it return the POV to a default angle. Best of all, make sure your tutorial lets players know about this!

    It does talk about the middle mouse button in some small text below the web player. That's where it explains all the controls of the game.

    The Middle-mouse click didn't work for me, I'd change it to something else

    (tested with my MacBook Pro's trackpad, which obviously has no middle mouse, and a wireless Microsoft Mouse which definitely does have a middle mouse. It just acted like a left-click)

    I was working on a map editor, when i made the beginnings of this, It is a kind of sprite editor cant export it or anything though I'm thinking of a game were what you have to do is sprite something then name it hand it to someone else and they have to guess what it is... fun? probably not :D

    Reminds me of a Wii game I once played. Endless Ocean.

    that doesnt look anything near a skybox, looks more like some kind of cammo, it seems u just use lots of filters, try handpainting the clouds, or use real pictures of the sky

    My only concern is that people will see it and think "oh, clouds difference clouds in Photoshop".

    I had promised to do a quick tutorial on how I did them, and I just posted it on my website. So if anyone is interested, you can check the how-to out at:

    Hello. I think I've found a way to prevent CheatEngine and iHackGamez users from editing any Unity based game. :)
    Look:

    The left value is the one I am trying to hack using cheatEngine.
    The one from the right is an usual unprotected Int variable declared the way we are used to do in C# or Js; It was 4976 too, I used CheatEngine to change the value to 50.000...
    It's still under testing, but I am sure I will get rid of memory editors, at least most of their users won't figure out what is going on lol.
    I managed to find the variable I want to edit, but CheatEngine returns a "???" value and it can't change or freeze the variable. Even if the Game's .exe is a offline Unity built game without any kind of special protection.
    For the first time I see something on CheatEngine I can't really find a way to edit...

    The best part is the real value is really what is on screen (that "4976"), in simple Int format, still I cannot edit it.
    The trick is so simple that I am skeptical to believe it just works.
    No junk code generation, no VMs, no DRMs, no autoritative online checkins, no modification of exe, no math tricks, no random memory adress tricks, none of that witchery hahah.
    Tried to hack the protected variable (from the left) on PC and Mac. No results...
    It works on any Unity supported platform as well.

    I tried a lot of Unity built games and ALL of them I could get somekind of access from CheatEngine.
    On most of them I could edit everything in the game... I've being now thinking of why nobody here do this kind of stuff to build a healthy game. Sure, you can't stop real hackers, but at least the CheatEngine's kids can't be all that problem because most of them knows nothing beyond searching and editing variables on memory...
    I will for sure use this thing in any offline or peer to peer game.

    Oh, and all I have done to stop CheatEngine for now was, instead of doing this:
    Code (csharp):
    1.
    2. int Life = 5000;  // Anybody may hack this!
    3. //
    4. void Start() //etc...
    5.
    I changed it to this:
    Code (csharp):
    1.
    2. protected string _Life; public int Life {get{SC.Decode(_Life)}set{SC.Encode(_Life)}};
    3. //
    4. void Awake() {
    5.      Life = 5000;
    6. }
    7. //
    8. void Start() //etc...
    9.
    "SC" is the class I built to do the thing while keeping code clean.
    I think it is a very good trick for a not all that good coder like me. I feel happy.
    If you think this may be useful to your games, drop me a PM! :)
