    Interesting idea, but...
    • You are entering a saturated market. Most devs have game jam invites coming out their ears.
    • You are asking people to send you completed source code. Sounds suspiciously like an IP grab. (I know this is not your intent, but think of it from the point of view of a stranger).
    • You are judging the comp, but have no prize. That will tend to be discouraging.
Ultimately you have no real reason for anyone to participate in the competition. Why would a random stranger off the street want to join in the competition?

    That's an understatement.

Is having prizes a normal thing? Only one I've actually looked into in any depth was Ludum Dare.

Does Ludum Dare get judged? I have no idea. It's not one I've participated in.

In my limited experience the norm is no judging and no prizes. Some jams do have prizes, primarily jams about raising the profile of a particular platform, or jams supporting a particular cause.

I'm not especially certain on that argument, I might be completely wrong.
