    Hi,

When using detail meshes or non billboard textures as my grass in Unity, the grass slides over the ground instead of just waving like it should.

I read that this can be fixed by editing the vertex alpha, so i did this in 3DS Max. I set the alpha of the bottom vertexes to 0, mid to 40 and top to 80. However, the grass still slides over the ground. theres not a single difference.

What is going wrong here? anyone that knows a solution?

    Thanks!

    Hello BlueMoonAS,

That is correct, by changing the Vertex colors you'll be able to control how much the wind affects your meshes. I'm curious why it isn't working. Do you mind sharing the detail mesh object and the Unity version you're using?

    Hi all,
I am facing a similar issue here, my grass is sliding/hovering instead of waving. This happens no matter if I use detail-meshes or grass-textures.

What is weird though: this has worked before and started happening out of the blue. I was using Unity 2019.2.6f1 when it first happened. Upgrading to Unity 2019.4.15f1 did not help with this issue.

Thanks in advance, be excellent to each other!

Hi all, I finally solved this issue. It turns out one of the Asset-packs I was using (Flooded Grounds) came with a grass-shader which was overriding (or conflicting with) the Unity-Grass-Shader. After deleting that shader, grass works as expected again.

I have to thank the guys at "Naturemanufacture" for this. I hope this will help others as well.
