New website for the new version of the game, "Slender: The Arrival":

    http://www.slenderarrival.com/

This is still being made with Unity, by the way, and will have lots of improvements.

I think the game will be more interesting and 'creepier' if you did it in black and white instead of colour.

I haven't played the game but I did watch a video of it and it has the 'Blair Witch Project' type look to it.

Does the new version still use a camera? Or is it just your own two eyes?

The current slender games you are looking through a camera, that is why it is staticy

Now that looks interesting. I like the way that you are looking through the camera.
The landscape looks much nicer then the first game.
Is still it going to be free like the original?

Edit: Also, when is the planned release date for the game?

Static represents sanity. Low sanity = high static

Yeah, the logical explanation is that you are looking through a camera. :p

Slender : The Arrival Looks sick! Can't wait to play it! Is there any chance you'll release an alpha/beta version before the actual release?

If this is not Agent Parsec, I would say someone is getting a sh!t load of money with a iOS rip-off of Slender. Click

Hey me and my friends are making a game that's similar but completely different and would like to know if we could get or buy the assets you used we will put your name and link to your game in credits of ours and title screen: basically our game is a 4-player co-op survival but instead of trying to find pages your trying to find answers about the disapperence of the youngest of the friends who went into the woods we will not be using slenderman but a new similar character named JaX10n who is similar to slendy but more gruesome. also youll have no contact with your partners or able to defend your self so if you want we would love to have you on the team or have your assets thank you for reading this.

Aside from Slender, the majority of the assets are not really that special. Just model them in Blender.

You should also know he didn't produce the assets himself including slender.

You want to make a completely different, yet similar game using his assets?

    1. That's an oxymoron.
    2. Why do you want assets taken from his game? If you're willing to pay then why not pay for an artist to create some for you, or buy a package online instead of ripping them out of a game that's similar to yours?

Yeah the ratings are indeed not great. But that doesn't stop tens of thousands people to buy that one.
And I don't think that the developer gives a crap about the ratings since he is filthy rich now, with the idea of someone else and maybe two weeks of work.

That is horrible, how can this be legal or how could Apple allow this. AgentParsec should ask Apple to investigate this.

Does AgentParsec have to possess a GDD to be able to do something about this?

I think its alright - they ported the game to IOS, heaps of people can play it!

What I DONT agree with, is not telling AgentParsec beforehand.

I don't think that is alright, because it looks pretty much like the original game. It's a blatant rip-off if you ask me.

I doubt there's any legal recourse parsec can take.

-Slender is based on someone else's IP, to begin with.

    -Using other folk's art assets

-Using code built with help of the community.

    -Deployed freely online.

Honestly I think this is the chance of his life. He got his name in the spotlight, now he has to deliver a good game. If the clones are better than it, then that's it. If not, then he can make some money. That's a far better deal than a lot of indie devs get.

Slender was based on others ideas, the clones are basing their games off of Slender's ideas. It would be a bit hypocritical for Slender to say "No, you can't base your work off this game" in my mind.

Granted though, straight up clones and rips are bad, and they're the reason I hang on so tightly to my original ideas. Too many people out to make quick money at your expense :-/

As independent developers, how can we make sure that this doesn't happen to us? I am developing a very unique game, which has taken many hours to develop and more to come.

It would make me go crazy to know that someone just copied and made money on my idea.

Right, but that's not the point.
Let's say you make a exact copy of Resident Evil. Sure, the zombies in that game are widely used creatures and nobody can claim the IP for that. But Capcom would sue your a$$ because you copied the IP and the look of the game itself.
Same goes for Slender. While Slenderman is not Parsec's idea, the game in it's execution with that exact look and feel however is.

Well, that doesn't give people the right to rip-off his game. Same goes for the code. It is still Parsec's game.
I mean. You can't rip off movies like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, just because they used the "Wilhelm Scream" or reused props from other movies.
I don't see your point here.

That is not a invitation to copy his game. If you look a TV show for free, does that mean you can copy that IP as well? Again, I don't get your point here.
He didn't release the game under CC or something.

Yes, Parsec took some existing ideas( similar gameplay like Hide and Slenderman) . Nobody denies that. But he made is own original game out of it. And nobody has the right to rip that off and make shameless profits from it.

I found that article btw, which makes it clear that this is not Agent Parsec's game.

Then...be the first one to make money off it, and make it go viral before anyone else does.

You can never make sure this doesn't happen to your game if it isn't copyrighted.

My point is that games these days are mostly ripped off games, ripped off from another great ripped off game.

You should see this question, there really is nothing you can do about it, unless you put it on steam, and even then people will do what they wish with it. A perfect example is Call of Duty and Medal of Honor. They are obviously copies of each other. It doesn't matter how big you go, you will have copy-cats

I am wondering why is the frame rate so low even on high-end PC-s.
Is it due you're using a free version of engine or something else, but nobody, and I seriously mean not even alien PC, can run that game locked 60 FPS on highest settings and 1290x960 resolution.

I hope you work on that issue.

Somebody should start a slenderman kickstarter, not to fund a slenderman game but to promise not to make one if they get enough money.

Dudre I run Slender with 4870 HD and 8 gigs of ram with a G620 at 2.6 GHz on the highest settings on 1440x900, maybe even on 1680x1050 too without a problem. Your computer is just REALLY old. Even a computer at my IT class that doesn't even have a proper independant GPU can run this and its like core 2 duo with 2 gigs of RAM.
