I think, you can check some tutorials on YouTube. It is really a too much helpful way to find everything there in YT.

I am also struggling with this. I have an image that is very large: 4096x1024 pixels to be used as a background that scrolls. Admittedly, I'm useless with graphics, so I have no idea what I'm doing... I tried every combination of import that was possible, and the image still looks distorted.

Settings I tried to maximize image quality:
    TextureType: Sprite / 2D
    SpriteMode: Single
Pixels Per Unit: 100 (which matches my Canvas)
Generate Mip Maps: yes (no idea what this is)
Filter Mode: Bilinear (tried Trilinear, but not much of a difference, so kept it to default)
    Max Size: 4096
    Format: True Color

I took the below images as a Screen Capture on my mac. They are roughly the same size in terms of pixels, however, the smoother one is roughly 4 times the file size, which I'm surprised about, since they are simply screen captures. So, clearly, the Unity Sprite Editor is optimizing things that even comes through on copy-paste on screen captures, but it is lossy. You can see the difference in the images below.

I understand that you have to be efficient with resources (particularly since this is a mobile game), but I feel that I need to understand this so I can manage and minimize the visual effects.
