I was inspired by the Project Offset video that showed a bunch of globlins running around. So, I conscripted 100 skeletal minions to see how they would fair. This is a screenshot of a FPS scene with 100 skeletal minions marching on. Enjoy!
Here it is on the web with a frames per second counter. Skeletons are dispatched five per second and each lives for twenty seconds. Be careful - it's meant as a technology test and it may strain your computer. http://web.mac.com/tsphillips/demo/CrowdTest_web.html For those that can run it, I recommend going into full screen mode and walking around (normal FPS controls). (edit - BTW, for those interested in third party content, the skeleton model is from http://www.arteria-gaming.com/. The music track is also from there. I claim little more than a bit of programming. )
wow - that's surprisingly unsettling. its creepy if you go to the edge of the darkness near where they appear. good job on the music. i get about 5-15 fps on an intel imac (fullscreen) depending how many are in view at once.
Nice. It showed an average of 15-20 fps on my machine but there was no slowdown or anything. Runs great. Also a very nice look going on. Edit: Also that site looks rather nice. Must remember to check it out more later.
