Sorry, not sure if this is in the right forum section or not. Been googling a long while now but I can't figure this out. If I want to set a terrain at say, 10kmx10km, what size should I use for terrain width and length?

When I create a terrain, it sets to 500 width and 500 length. What is that? Meters?

1 unit, by, default is metre. So you may want 10000x10000 units.

If you are making an ant game, then you may want 1 unit to be 1 millimetre. That's entirely up to you. But, out of the box, Unity uses SI units for everything. If your 1x1x1 unit cube has a RigidBody and it's mass it set to 1, then you have (by default) a 1m cubed volume with a mass of 1 kg. I can't imagine there are many solid with a mass like that.
