Simple way to delete files commited to Collaborate?

I've recently started using Collaborate and just wanted to ask if there is a simple way to delete commited files? If I want to do that, it asks me to commit the whole project. If there are no other changes in the project (other than the deleted files), I can't publish the changes, so I need to deliberately change something else just to delete commited files. Deleting files is a really basic functionality for a VCS and is very much needed, especially when prototyping games. Unity may have a reason for making it this way which I am unaware of.

So, should I be doing something differently or is this how it should be? Thanks.

Deleted files do not show up in the Project tab (which is awful), but they DO show in the list in the Collaborate dropdown, and you should be able to submit.
