I've never been able to get the water prefabs to work in the Standard Assets package.

I drag out a Simple Daylight Water or Simple Nighttime Water to my scene. I can see the oval mesh just fine in the editor.

When I run the game, there is no water to be found. I can't see it on top or bottom.

I know its there because the projector I'm using for a blob shadow casts onto it.

I've read the docs and it seems it should just work, especially the Simple Water versions.

    What am I missing?

Check the inspector for the water object to see if there are any shaders or materials missing. I think all the ingredients for the prefab are in the Water folder in Standard Assets, so I guess it is unlikely you've deleted them, but there could be some other problem. If the water object seems to be correct, then it is possible the computer's graphics card doesn't support the water effect (you say it has never worked, right?)
