    Update: 13/02/23.
It seems that the problem is connected to URP. Unity crashes all the time when I try to add any 3D object to the scene (evcen built-in ones).

    Original post:
    Hello!

I've created a simple model in Blender (a hexagon, as seen on the screenshot) and imported it to Unity. I tried direct Blender file import (.blend) and .fbx. The result is the same. The asset is being imported normally, no warning given. However, when I add it to the Hierarchy and start moving camera around the object in the Scene view, Unity crashes (txt with bug report is attached).

Both Unity and Blender are of latest versions for MacOS. I'm a new Unity hobbyist and totally stuck at this point :-( Any help is appreciated!

I infrequently get a crash in a similarly-named function on macOS -- I don't think it's that exact one, though.

Reliably crashing is something else entirely, though!

Could you share the FBX? I have a hard time believing that it's the actual cause, but you never know...

Actually, I discovered that the issue is even worse :-( Unity crashes all the time when I try to add any 3D object (even built-in) to a project with URP template. Here, I made a screen record. This is a brand new project! It happens with any Unity editor version. I tried 2022.2.6f1 (Silicon), 2023.1.0b3 and 2021.3.18f1. And yes, it happens all the time.

My specs: Macbook Pro 14" 2023 (M2 Pro, 16GB RAM), MacOS Ventura 13.2, fully updated.

Ah, it's one of the brand-new M2's. I could believe that something with the newest GPU hardware is playing poorly with Unity. I'm using an M1 Pro from last year.

This is actually awesome news because you can create a blank project and then file a bug. (Help -> Report A Bug)

As long as filing the bug doesn't crash (it might!) then you will have made a bug with the latest tech stream you tried, plus it will be shown coming from an M2, and if you simply enumerate the reproduction steps, it has a high chance of quickly getting fixed.

I had the same issue with 2022.2.5f1 on my MacBook Pro 16" M1 Max. I reported it, but the bug was closed with the reason "duplicate" and the issue link provided:

    https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/is...is-left-idle-while-the-editor-is-in-play-mode

The one above has a different stack (ScriptableRenderLoopJob vs ScriptableRenderLoopShadowsJob), but I assume they know what they're doing. (Disclaimer: I have zero knowledge about advanced gfx/rendering technology, I'm just using Unity for fun and possibly releasing a mobile game sometime in the future.)

It was practically impossible to use the Apple Silicon version of the editor.

It doesn't seem to occur in 2022.2.6f1 (no crashes so far) but I've noticed another weird thing (animation preview window):

Hopefully they will make the Silicon version more usable soon.
