    Hi Guys.
few days ago I've started test unity platform for my future projects. I decided to code very simple 2d game in Unity Free, so i almost finished it and suddenly i noticed that its size is too big, i would say very very huge big ))
look, in cocos2d the same game size is 8mb , with unity it is 53mb how it can be? I know that there is some limitation with Free version and there is a feature on Pro which can reduce the size but I don't know, it can be 20 mb or 25 mb but not more. Maybe I'm doing something wrong ? is there any way to reduce the size on free version ? because this is ridiculous to publish the simple game on store which size is 53mb.

That's larger than I'm getting even for a standalone of a reasonably complex project. What are you publishing to? What are your assets like? Got a CD-full of uncompressed background music in there or something?

I don't have any music right now.
Just one background image which is 2.5 mb originally, and 3 sprite sheet for animations , in total 3 mb together, thats all.

What is the usual size for such kind of project with unity ?

    Hi,

Which platform are you publishing to? Do you have development build enabled?
There are many ways to reduce final build size, but let's start with the platform you're targeting.

There are stripping options in player settings, try enabling some. By default I believe they are off.

In the free version at least. Pro can reduce size to AFAIK under 20 MB on iOS.

Keep in mind that however small your project may be, it's running in the Unity engine. A web-build, for example, can be itsy-bitsy, because the web player itself isn't actually included.

ok, i understand why it is so big, but, if it is with pro version 15 mb, why with free it is 50, it could be 30 mb maximum.
ok anyway I'll stop my experiments with unity, i believe that unity is a great tool for making games and the unity team is doing great job every day to make the product better and better, but I don't see any reason to go with unity free and publish games, anyway I'm planning in future buy unity Pro. But first of all i need 4.5K$ at least ))))
