Hello friends and designers! Want to make a game in a week? Do you not feel you've recently made a wacky enough game, yet? Fear not, for there's a Jam for that!

Silly New Years 2015 Game Jam
    Administered by me (Asvarduil/Andrew Gray)
    Proposed by @tedthebug
Blessed by @Gigiwoo (some restrictions may apply, see store for details.)
Want to help manage the jam? Message me your GameJolt User ID so I can add you.
    Organizers are me, @tedthebug.

Jam Theme: Something old, something new
What To Build: A working, prototype game that can be won and lost. The assets don't have to be there...yet.
    Bonus Points: General wackiness.

Be sure to include the hashtag #sillynewyears2015jam in your game's GameJolt description. Additionally, be sure to post your game to the Feedback Friday topic for 9 Jan 2016-23 Jan 2016 to get feedback, fun, and ever-useful constructive critique.

Come on, up your game in the new year with us!

It'll be tight (I won't have access until the 5th) but I'm in.

We'll see if I quit bashing my head against my hex grid system, wondering how the hell I'm going to use it (art pipeline wise mostly). I may end up not having the time either way, this is looking to be a busy christmas/new years.

Luckily you've got plenty of time! Don't stress on this one - the time limit is very permissive (also fortunate for me - I'll be lucky to put in a contiguous week; my 'week' of development may be spread out more or less across the jam itself.)

Count me as interested. I have a few days off. And there is this RTS game I keep wanting to prototype that fits the theme.

...Based on Sword Art Online and/or Final Fantasy VII with Slenderman influences?*

    Back On Topic
I pushed the Jam start back to Saturday. I figure that should give people time to figure out ideas, tie up other loose ends, figure out how to budget time if they want to participate, and for me to get the Jam in good working order. This is my first Game Jam, ever.

*: Have we fully traversed the cliche gamut yet, or are there some games I've forgotten about?

Lol. I am totally aware that doing an RTS prototype in a week is insane. But game jams in general are insane.

Zombies maybe. Shooter no (shooting yes). Multi player no. RPG no. RTS yes.

Swords yes. Art no. Online no. Fantasy yes. Final Fantasy no. Slender man no. Horror no. Stealth no.

Totally. It's not going to be open world or procedurally generated. There is no survival. No crafting.

The scope is still somewhat insane. But you said wacky!

Yeah you could try posting in those other forums so we could get other people participating but I don't know if they will even join and how big we want the jam to get.

I'll repost the op into the general thread, I think that's the only other one we could post it in.

I'm trying to get a game ready for the other unity contest. I may throw it into both it and this jam.

Or, you know, I could just make another game. :p

Hey everyone! The Silly New Years 2015-2016 Jam is now underway! You can stream, submit, and see other works as they become available!

Also, as the General Discussion topic is a better place for this kind of thing, I am about to request this thread be either locked or deleted; instead all attention should go to the General Discussion topic for the jam, that way Game Design can continue to be the focus of the Game Design forum.

In other news: My middle name is subtlety, but my first name is "What".

I've locked this and banned Asvarduil.

Just kidding (thread lock requested as there is now a new one!)
