Feature Request Signed Distance Field AO - Ambient occlusion for far away objects

    SSAO is great but it doesn't help after a certain distance where you might still want AO.
    Also it won't be limited to just what's on the screen
    Sometimes you also want stronger occlusion, -- SSAO can't help much there, it's quite subtle
    Maybe something like Distance Field AO?

    Distance field AO would require sampling a global distance field of the whole scene + separate distance fields for objects. Or rebaking some portion of the distance field around the camera in realtime. Even if Unity started working on it tomorrow morning, I guess it would take a year or so to complete it, judging by the Probe Volumes or other features that have something to do with global scene geometry representation.

    Here is couple of relevant topics you might want to look into in the meantime:

    SDF AO for built in
    SDF Shadows and stuff (probably dead)

    I really want this one too, but i don't have any hope for this one too.
