FYI I do have the money to buy Unity Pro, i just don't want to waste my time. If Unity Personal & Pro are two different softwares, then i don't mind buying Unity Pro and start learning with it.

The only differences, as pointed out by the comparison page, are not related to the engine itself but rather side perks like a dark skin for the editor, being able to hide the Unity splash screen, etc.

Learn on personal. The only reason to go pro is of you make a lot of money.

(Or if you have an obsession with dark skin. And that's editor skin, not models. (I actually had to explain to a guy recently that not allowing dark skin in free was not a white supremacist plot.))

Unless you plan to make more than $100,000 in learning experience, you don't need pro.

    Unity community is best community.

The dark skin thing really depends, though. Personally, I would get eye strain when working with the white editor skin for about 12 hours straight.
Other than that, I would clearly use Personal, too.
Especially if you don't really make use of level 11 anyway.

Try f.lux for the eyestrain. Studies show it is the blue light from your computer and the frequency, not the color of the skin. I get eye strain from black backgrounds as do many people, especially those of us with older eyes.

But with f.lux my eyes feel much better. I have recommended it to a lot of folks and they all love it. Just use it for a few days before you toss it though. It takes time to get used to it.

    @Teila
Thanks for the recommendation. I will check it out!

    EDIT:
When you're working on visual design, though, it will probably be in your way, right?
If blue is less bright than it's supposed to, you don't know what colors you're painting? :D

With Unity 5, both versions (Pro and Personal) have the same features, so if you learn with Personal you will already know how to use Pro. With Unity 4, there were some differences, but those days are in the past.

The biggest differences between Pro and Personal are the income limit on Personal and the splash screen on Personal. As far as game designing and programming, there is no difference between Pro and Personal. You don't need to re-learn anything when moving from Personal to Pro.

Personal and Pro are literally the same thing; there are no separate versions.

Use personal until you decide to release your games, then if you feel you want to pay the cash for Pro (or become obliged to) then get Pro

If you are learning, start with the free one. You may find you might or might not like it, or may or may not want the pro features. Learn first and then expand into pro later if you need to.

Nope, still the same thing. It's just that the Pro license changes the behavior of a couple of things in the editor, but it's the same app regardless. There's really no decision to make, since:

The answer is no, they are not different programs. If you decide to get the Pro license later, it doesn't change anything as far as Unity (the app) goes.

The thing is with Unity 5 there are no pro features anymore, thats a thing of the past
If I'm correct the only differences are:
    -Dark skin
    -Level 11
    -Free subscriptions to some services?
    -Removable splash screen
    -Required by entities grossing 100k+

If that's true, does that mean someone could hack the editor to get the skin since it's the same software? Though if it were me, I'd opt to invent software called "shades" which would simply overlay areas of your choice on screen with semi-transparent gray to save your eyes after 10pm.

    --edit

Yes, I did just somehow switch topics without realizing it. I think there might be more than 1 person in here trying to tell these hands what to output on the keyboard.

It's always been that way, since day 1.

You can hack it to do whatever. (The legality is another question....)

    Or just change the colors?

Weird, I thought pro and free were separated by maybe content patches or something, not just a license lock.

Is it legal to make the editor pink?

It might get in the way if you are painting. But it is easy to disable it while you are doing that. I have gotten used to the change so I don't really notice the change in color when adding textures, etc., but I probably wouldn't make an subtle changes while I am using.

F.lux does change the color and it set to change as the sun goes down. You can also set it based on your types of indoor lights. My eye issues have decreased significantly and when using my tablet, which does not have f.lux, I notice the difference.
