I'm asking here because I enjoy everyone's opinion on here, very intelligent bunch.

The quesion really isn't about going from PPC to Intel, as much as is it possible to get a good turn-around for my machine?

How much would my dual 2.7 go for now adays with the Intel switch already in full swing?

And would it be enough to purchase just the basic machine?

I really love my Dual 2.7, but since I do freelance work for some government research companies who REQUIRE 3D Studio Max, I have to have a seperate Windows box just run 3DS Max.

I'd like to be able to sell my Dual 2.7 and my Windows machine and just stick with 1 machine. If it wasn't that I can't live on the road without my iBook i'd sell it too.

Do you think it's possible to sell my Mac and PC and have enough to purchase a MacPro without having to spend extra cash?

It's a personal call, but I say keep what you have even if two systems means less desk space!

You have a fast machine already--and four cores aren't aways that much better than two.

So if you wait, although resale values will continue to fall, you'll also be able to buy an even BETTER Mac Pro (and GPU) than what's out now. Maybe even Blu-Ray. Plus, if there are any early glitches in Mac Pro components, that will allow time for them to be caught.

I'd consider selling some time before Photoshop CS3 (because until then, CS2 is generating demand for used G5s).
