I discovered some weirdness in a shadow, demonstrated in the attached .gif.

    ShadowBug.gif

There is no special lighting/processing/shaders/etc in this scene, just a basic directional light and a world made of giant cubes to run around on.

I tried googling for it and turned up nothing. Does anyone know what this is / what to do about it?

This actually looks very similar to the bug report I filed last week. Haven't gotten a response back yet but I did find the culprit. If its what I am assuming, then this is caused by the Shadow Cascades.

Specifically, when the Camera Distance to Object is at a Point of Intersection with the Transition from the Shadow Cascade. If your camera is at a set position and can't be adjusted at runtime then adjusting the shadow cascade percentages will solve your issue. However, if the camera is adjustable at runtime, then the issue will be prevalent, because there will be another point of intersection in the game that will also cause this when the player/camera is at that intersection point.
Although in my case, the shadow was tearing in at the root of the object and not around the player. ShadowCascade.PNG
