Settlers of Catan.

Hey was just wondering has anyone here played Catan?

It's an awesome game and thought it would be fun to make a simple version of Catan over to unity.
What are your thoughts on this?

 

Yeah I played it once or twice!
Was pretty cool. Although your could make it more complex than the board game.

 

Me and my cousin have sat down and taken the basic principle of Catan and made our own game with more complex ideas.

Check out `catan online world`. It's a networked online version of the game with many thousands of players. Lots of fun.

I'm sure you could do something similar or better in unity but the underlying game, you can't really just copy it.

 

btw. the first PC adaptation has been done in 1999 (Catan - Die erste Insel)...

 

Yeah, we've scrapped a lot of the main ideas of the game and made up our own. but we're still using the hex's and resources but we have changed those. I think that's it. Everything else we have changed.

 

It's our favorite board game, we play it very often. We even got the barbarians expansion that has rules for 2 player game and play with the wife when we both need a break.

The card game is mean because you have to destroy your opponent, nonetheless it can be fun.

 

love the original board game, ipad version is worth a look too, my GF loves it.
